A Rare Honour
Recognising Service That Lasts
Pathfinders’ 50-year history makes clear that Life Membership is deliberately uncommon. It recognises sustained service that has had a meaningful effect on the long-term running and success of the club.
The names below represent many different kinds of contribution: Presidents and Treasurers, Race Secretaries, officials, observers, coaches, delegates, section setters, equipment custodians, organisers, competitors and volunteers. Different roles, but the same willingness to give back to Pathfinders.

Dick Langstone
Founding Club Secretary and Treasurer, experienced solo and sidecar trials rider, and partner in Small Motors Rockingham.
1982Remembered
Chris Spikins
Past President, one of the club’s first WAMCA delegates and the author of the original Trial & Error history covering Pathfinders’ first 20 years.
1984Remembered
R.A. “Nobby” Clarke
Past President, trials and scramble rider, and a long-serving club delegate to the state governing body.
1988Remembered
John Richardson
Past President, accomplished motorcycle competitor and one of the club’s first delegates to WAMCA.

Jean Middleton
Awarded honorary Life Membership following the death of her husband, club stalwart George Middleton, who was remembered in the club history as a true Club man.

Tony Griffiths
Past President, inaugural Club Person of the Year and a long-standing competitor and club character.

Peter Mathieson
Past President and Secretary, MWA delegate, Pathfinder editor, leading rider and author of a trials coaching manual used in training seminars.

John “Herbie” Ashton
Remembered as a devoted four-stroke enthusiast, skilled welder and one of the club’s much-loved personalities and volunteers.

Long-serving Vice President, property coordinator and highly regarded section setter with a strong association with sidecar trials.

Their Legacy
More Than a Name on an Honour Roll
The club’s history presents Life Members as important custodians of Pathfinders — people whose experience helps preserve the club’s culture, support its committee and pass knowledge on to the next generation.
Their service is also a reminder that Pathfinders has always been built by volunteers. The events enjoyed today exist because generations of members have been willing to organise, observe, officiate, set sections, maintain equipment, mentor riders and simply help where help was needed.
